5G Experimental Operation
2026-03-13
On March 13, we conducted the 5G experimental operation. In this experiment, communication was established between the transmitter mounted on the membrane and the receiver installed on the satellite body.
This experiment is a first step toward realizing large-aperture, lightweight, and highly stowable deployable array antennas that use beamforming technology to compensate for the non-planar shape of deployed membranes.
A comment from the 5G team: Even after launch, it was a tense and exciting time for us. We're delighted to see that the antenna we spent years developing is operating successfully, and the entire Institute of Science Tokyo team is greatly relieved! (Komaba)
Thank you for your continued support of the HELIOS-R project.
